From the beginning, the Winona Men’s Club has been a significant supporter of Orchard Park Robotics TEAM 2056 the winningest team in the world of FIRST Robotics.

Orchard Park Robotics is a FIRST team (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology). The goal of this program is to help students build science, engineering, technology, communication and teamwork skills in an atmosphere of professionalism. Each year, TEAM 2056 must design, program, and build a robot that is able to perform key critical aspects of an entirely new game. The students and robots then compete against 5,000 teams from around the world.

TEAM 2056 is not only amongst the very best teams in the world, it is the winningest team in the world with an unprecedented combined Win-Loss-Tie record of 840-157-4 since inception, (2007-2019).

Not surprisingly, despite competing against teams who have played for much longer, TEAM 2056 has the third most regional wins in the world with 46. What distinguishes the team is what people simply call “The Streak”: 23 consecutive regional wins (Undefeated in tournaments throughout their first 10 years).

You can catch TEAM 2056 at competitions in McMaster and Waterloo and, during the Peach Festival, in our Corn Booth. Along with Gilwell Scouters, they help us husk, polish, cook and serve 4,800 cobs of corn each year.

TEAM 2056 successes in 2019:

  • Winner, University of Waterloo District Event (18-0-0)
  • Winner, McMaster University District Event (17-1-0) and winner of the Chairman’s Award (Top prize)
  • Winner, Ontario Provincial Championship: Technology Division (17-0-1)
  • 3rd Place, Curie Division, at the World Championships (12-3-0)
  • Winner, Indiana Robotics Invitational (14-2-0)

TEAM 2056 certainly isn’t camera shy
